Altar arrangement

posted Jan 7, 2013, 12:21 PM by Rochester Ordinariate

Our present altar arrangement takes Good Shepherd's free standing altar, re-orientates it, adds portable reredos, dossal curtain (note the mini-riddels), altar crucifix, office candlesticks and altar lights.  The processional crucifix,  banner of Our Lady of Walsingham, with our thurible, as well as chalice, paten, and ciborum and vestments for the sacred vessels make us almost ready for Deacon Cornelius's upcoming ordination to the priesthood.

The style is something of a mix of English Sarum and the older Roman tradition, which I suppose is as good a description of Ordinariate ethos as any other.  I think it is also a good reflection of our group, and represents what we have been given or lent to prepare an altar that is unique and beautiful to give glory to God.
